Bon appétit – Middle school students participate in culinary competition

MS Culinary Competition spoon trophies

About 75 middle school students took to the kitchen to participate in this year’s LWSD Middle School Culinary Competition. Students put together a PowerPoint presentation showing off the work they had done and submitted it to the competition committee in March. There were five schools who had students submit presentations: Kamiakin, Redmond, Evergreen, Inglewood and Finn Hill middle schools. Savory and sweet were the two categories the event was divided into. Below are the top three winners in each category, the school they attend and the dish they presented:

Sweet:

  • First place – Shreya Tundwal – Kamiakin Middle School (Butterscotch Trifle)
  • Second place – Kinzie Mullinax – Finn Hill Middle School (Three Tiered Floral Cake)
  • Third place – Kareli Dotson & Amelia Koloskova – Finn Hill Middle School (Cotton Candy Macaroon Cake)

Savory:

  • First place – Aarya Kulkarni & Eden Olekh – Redmond Middle School (Spring Vegetable Potstickers)
  • Second place – Sofiia Davidova & Isabella Ramirez – Evergreen Middle School (Layered Baguette)
  • Third place – Affan Sheikh – Inglewood Middle School (Kareem Kebab)
